Psalm 8 describes humanity as being made “a little lower than the heavenly beings” (Hebrew: elohim or “heavenly beings”). Humanity was created with dignity, vocation, and authority — a royal calling.
Hebrews 2 shows that Jesus, by becoming human, enters this same vocation. He fulfills what humanity failed to do and is crowned with glory and honor.
In the biblical worldview, humanity was meant to rule creation under God, alongside the loyal heavenly host. The fall disrupted this calling, but Jesus restores it.
